Skim milk can actually be really bad for your heart.

If you're one of the health conscious, then you’ll have encountered a lot of conflicting information on what is and is not healthy for you. Take skim milk, for instance, a beverage hailed as healthy for all given it allows one to gain all the vitamins found in milk. However, just like with everything else, more researchers are coming to the realization that skim milk is no better than your regular fatty milk.

The reason behind the explanation is simple: as fat is removed from milk, a lot of crucial vitamins are also eliminated, which in turn are replaced with synthetics. Moreover, most of the manufacturers use a powdered form of milk to fortify their skim milk, and what this does is oxidize the cholesterol in the milk.

Oxidized cholesterol leads to the accumulation of plaque in the arteries, and consequently, atherosclerosis (a stage of coronary heart disease). Thus, when you drink skim milk that you think helps you in avoiding heart disease, what you’re doing is actually consuming oxidized cholesterol which sets the process of heart disease into motion.
